After the course student:  

• Is aware of key ethical and privacy issues of artificial intelligence (AI) and learning analytics.  
• Can critically review AI and learning analytics applications in educational contexts from ethical and privacy perspectives and recognize risks and challenges.
• Knows different approaches to privacy and its importance for individual and society.
• Can reflect the benefits, challenges and risks of AI and learning analytics in broader educational and societal contexts.
• Can apply ethical principles and legal frameworks for evaluating AI and learning analytics applications.

Live and pre-recorded lectures, discussion, reading materials, individual and group assignments. Lectures and guided learning 22 hours, independent and group work 112 h, in total 134 h.

Online course

Pass/Fail Students are evaluated based on their active participation in classes, (e.g., contribution to online forum, group discussions, and peer reviews), quality and timeliness of completed individual and group assignments (e.g., understanding of key concepts, demonstration of analytics skills, ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical contexts, depth and presentation of conducted investigation).

You can complete the course with a scope of 1-5 credits. The course is implemented in co-operation with the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.
