After completing the course, the student

-Understands key theories and research findings on the didactics of writing in a second language (L2) within the context of the Sámi language
-Recognizes the specific needs of learners of Sámi in acquiring reading and writing skills
-Can describe theoretical models of reading and writing development (Reading Rope and Writing Rope)
-Can explain the development of technical reading skills
-Can explain what general language proficiency means and what components it includes
-Can plan extensive reading and writing projects for teaching

• Knows how to use language technology tools as a resource for teachers
• Knows how to use language technology tools in teaching

Kurssa oahpahus ordnejuvvo gáiddusin. Logaldallamat leat eahkedis (dii. 17-19 Suopma / 16-18 Norga, Ruoŧŧa). Kurssa hárjehusaid sáhttá ollašuhttit dárbbu mielde suomagillii (omd. anáraš- ja nuortalašgielat oassálastit). Oahpaheaddjit leat prof. Hanna-Máret Outakoski (Sámi allaskuvla) ja prof. Lene Antonsen (UiT Norgga árktalaš universitehta).

The course will be held online. The lectures take place in the evening (5–7 p.m. Finnish time / 4–6 p.m. Norwegian and Swedish time). The lectures will not be recorded. Assignments can be completed in Finnish if necessary (e.g. for participants using Inari Sámi or Skolt Sámi). The lecturers are Prof. Hanna-Máret Outakoski (Sámi University of Applied Sciences) and Prof. Lene Antonsen (UiT The Arctic University of Norway).

-Total lectures: 19h with mandatory attendance of at least 80% of the lectures. More detailed dates will be announced later.
-Two compulsory 3-hour seminars on Saturday, 7 November and 28 November
-Reading materials in Sámi and English (scientific articles, etc.)
-Oral presentation in one of the seminars
-Written assignments: text assignment, curriculum plan, and final reflection
