Sustainability in the ICT Sector | Älykäs Kainuu

This training aims to give a holistic view of the topic of sustainability in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector. The training will present key sustainability concepts, principles, and indicators for ICTs including UN SDGs, environmental, social, and economic sustainability pillars, and impacts. Particular emphasis will be on concrete sustainability theme within the environmental, social and economic sustainability pillars and discuss their interrelations. Both ICT sector’s own sustainability impact and the impact from the use of ICT solutions will be considered. Practical examples are provided about concrete sustainability themes and how to address them in the in the ICT sector.

This study course takes place in online learning environment Moodle. Two online lessons will be held in Teams on Tuesdays 24.3.2026 and 31.3.2026 from 9 am to 11 am. Lesson recordings will be available afterwards in Moodle. Teaching language is English.
