Education description
The Study Module in Sustainable Development consists of a compulsory introduction course Principles of Sustainable Development (5 ECTS) and elective studies (20 ECTS) that you can choose freely from the course selection of the study module. The course selection includes courses both in Finnish and in English. There are also courses in which you can choose either language.
Please check the detailed information of each course. You do not need to study the introduction course as the first course of the study module. Please enroll on those courses that you choose from the course selection of the Study Module in Sustainable Development
Obligatory course:
- NP00AF43 Principles of Sustainable Development, 5 cr (Spring 2027). Course is free of charge.

Optional courses in English:
- 417144P Gender equality as a diverse phenomenon, 5 cr (Spring 2027). Course is free of charge.
- 687363P Humans and Environment, 5 cr. The course is an independent course. Examination is arranged in Electronic Examination system (EXAM).
- AY00AT67 Managing sustainability through responsible leadership, 5 cr (Spring 2027)
- 790346A Nature conservation: a geographic perspective, 5 cr (Ongoing implementation, independent study). Course is free of charge.
- AY00AM50 Thinking and Talking about Climate, 2 cr (MOOC, ongoing implementation). Course is free of charge.
- 790161A Tourism, development and sustainability, 5 cr (Fall 2026). Course is free of charge.
- AY00BC24 Unsung Climate Hero, 3 cr (MOOC, ongoing implementation). Course is free of charge.
After you have studied altogether 25 ECTS from the course selection of the Study Module in Sustainable Development, please ask the compilation of the study module.
