After completing the course, the student - Can perform basic matrix operations and recognize basic types of matrices - Can solve systems of linear equations using matrices, can apply LU and QR factorizations for solutions and understands basic principles of iterative solutions and overdetermined systems - Recognizes vector spaces and understands how basis and dimension describe vector spaces - Understands how linear mappings can be represented using matrices - Can analyze matrices using subspaces, vectors and linear spaces - Can evaluate determinant, eigenvalues, and eigenvectors of a square matrix can diagonalize square matrices, and can apply diagonalization in simple problems - Understands basic principles of iterative methods for finding eigenvalues
