A Basic Understanding of Blockchain in Business MOOC (OPEN UNI)

No previous knowledge requirements.

After the course the student has reached these learning goals.

1. Student understands the fundamental concepts of blockchain technology and its key features.
2. Student can identify the role of blockchain technology in fostering sustainable business practices.
3. Students gains an overview of cryptocurrencies, token types, and central bank digital currencies, along with their use cases and potential implications for businesses.

The course is conducted in 100 % independent and remote learning (54 h) in DigiCampus' Moodle environment. To pass the course, the student must do all three main modules and pass all eleven quizzes in them. The optional final exam will only improve students grade.

This course is aimed at anyone who is interested in blockchain technologies including cryptocurrencies and tokens and their applications in different business environments. The course requires no prior knowledge about blockchain technologies and is fully accessible to everyone.

Material provided in the course platform inside the lessons by the teacher.

1) Written material, text-to-speech material, and eleven mandatory quizzes in three modules. 2) Optional final exam. 3) Mandatory feedback.

Course grading is the following:

Fail. Student hasn't completed all or any of the introduction tasks or module quizzes and lectures.

Minimum passing grade: 1. Student has completed all the introduction tasks and module quizzes and gave feedback of the course. No tries on the final exam.

Grade: 2. Student has completed all the introduction tasks and module quizzes and gave feedback of the course. Completes the final exam with less than 40 right answers.

Grade: 3. Student has completed all the introduction tasks and module quizzes and gave feedback of the course. 40/80 questions right on the final exam

Grade: 4. Student has completed all the introduction tasks and module quizzes and gave feedback of the course. 60/80 questions right on the final exam.

Grade: 5. Student has completed all the introduction tasks and module quizzes and gave feedback of the course. 70/80 questions right on the final exam.

This is a MOOC-course (Massive Online Open Course).

Before completing the course, student must confirm with the responsible person of their degree programme if the course can be part of the degree. Note. Oulu Business School bachelor students can include the course in the elective studies of the degree, if student completes elective study module instead of a minor module.
