University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences join the nationwide Opin.fi service – Finnish universities' open studies are now in one place

The University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk) are part of the new nationwide Opin.fi service, which brings together open studies from universities in one place. The free service makes finding and comparing studies easy and interesting. The studies are available flexibly for all ages, many regardless of time and place.

Topics of the study options range from sustainable development to new technologies and from well-being to health and safety. The University of Oulu and Oamk bring almost 300 offerings available to all. Selected by study language, there are currently 28 offerings in English, including 6G Talks, Basics in eHealth, DroneMaster and courses in Finnish, Chinese and French languages. Many of the study options are completely free.

"We are proud of this offering and hope the service will attract many users from all over Finland," says Vice-Rector for Education Mirja Illikainen from the University of Oulu.

"As a multidisciplinary university of applied sciences, we can respond to the challenge of societal and work-life renewal with our offerings. We want to provide learners with diverse options to develop work-life relevant skills. Hopefully, as many people as possible will be inspired to develop their expertise," says Vice-Rector for Education Jyrki Laitinen from Oamk.

Opin.fi service offers thousands of learning opportunities

Opin.fi is particularly aimed at working-age people, and its use does not require previous university studies. The service is open to those looking for a new interest or profession, career changers, and those updating their current skills for work. The service offers study options in Finnish, Swedish, and English, and you can study both remotely and in face-to-face teaching.

The service offers learning opportunities in various fields and forms. In addition to open university studies, the selection also includes other ways to develop skills, such as blogs, podcasts, videos, and webinars. These generally do not require registration, but can be accessed immediately.

By logging into the service, it is possible to view your previous university studies. Additionally, logging in allows you to save interesting study opportunities for later review. Actual registration for studies takes place in the universities' own services.

37 universities – one nationwide service

Opin.fi has been developed in collaboration with universities and future users. Long-term development work has involved learners and universities to ensure the service meets users' needs as well as possible.

The development of Opin.fi continues, and for example, the study offerings are constantly expanding and diversifying. In May, the service includes the educational offerings of the majority of Finnish universities, a total of 29 universities. The remaining eight Finnish universities will join with their study offerings during this year.

Already, you can build unique learning entities for yourself in the service, and in the future, Opin.fi will offer tailored recommendations based on your interests.

Opin.fi is a nationwide service developed by the Digivisio 2030 project in collaboration with Finnish universities. The Opin.fi service is operated by HigherEd Hub Finland Oy, a service company owned by Finnish universities. HigherEd Hub Finland Oy and the Digivisio 2030 project together ensure the production of advanced and secure digital services for Finnish universities.
