Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:

• Define the role of product development in a company's operations
• Distinguish between innovation activities and systematic product development, and describe them
• Differentiate the phases and tasks of the product development process
• Work in a product development project
• Use tools such as QFD (Quality Function Deployment) and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) in product development
• Determine the significance of other company functions (stakeholders) for product development activities
• Describe the transformation of different stakeholders' needs into requirements and specifications
• Describe the management of various stakeholders' requirements in product development

Method of organisation: Introductory lectures and lectures (20 hours) on Moodle, weekly assignments, and a project work to be completed individually / in remote groups. Detailed instructions will be provided on Moodle.

Additionally, other materials will be distributed during the course.

Assessment: 1-5 and Failed/To Be Completed.

The language of instruction is Finnish. The material also includes some resources in English.

Timing: The course is conducted as online studies on Moodle.
