Introduction to micro-entrepreneurship in Finland (OPEN UNI), The Summer University of Northern Ostrobothnia

No required pre-knowledge. On the course, the student can apply the course exercises on their existing business or on a fictional case company.

After the course, the student:

• Has got acquainted with the research field and study module of micro-entrepreneurship
• Understands the definition, characteristics and importance of micro-enterprises in society
• Recognizes the importance of company values, goals and entrepreneurial skills to the systematic management of a company
• Understands the significance of the concept of resilience as part of enterprise management

Online teaching in a Moodle learning environment in course’s timeframe including one reflection session online and independent studying.

Online material indicated by the teacher (literature, videos, podcasts).

Exercises based on your own, in planning stage or other company. Other assignments given by the teacher.

Pass / Fail
Approved completion of assignments.

The course is recommended to be taken as a part of the Micro-Entrepreneurship study package of 25 ECTS credits, but can also be taken as an individual 5 ECTS course. The target group of the course is university graduates and university students who aim for entrepreneurship or are interested in entrepreneurship, as well as entrepreneurs, those interested in entrepreneurship, Business advisors and those working in business service positions.
