Introduction to Health Education Studies (OPEN UNI)

Recommended optional programme components The course is an independent entity and does not requireadditional studies carried out at the same time.

Upon completion the student should be able to:

• explain the multidimensional nature of health and sickness
• display an understanding of the essential concepts related to health
• analyse health promotion and its possibilities from the health educational point of view
• explains the causes and regionality of health differences both in Finland and globally

Self-pased The course does not include scheduled teaching, but the assignments have designated deadlines that must be met during the course.

Materials, articles and publications distributed during the course. There are no course books as a separate requirement for the course. The necessary materials and possible book recommendations will be shared on the course platform in Moodle.

The course is completed through independent learning assignments, instructional videos, participation in group discussions, and online coursework

The student must successfully complete all independent assignments and group discussion assignments assigned in the Study Course. More detailed evaluation criteria can be found in Moodle.

Target group Open university students, school teachers and subject teachers,health care professionals, minor subject students in allfaculties
