Bachelor's level knowledge of Computer science and engineering study programmes. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: 1) Good programming skills in a system programming language are required (C/C++/Rust, any one of these), AND 2) Good knowledge of Computer Systems and Linux Commands. IMPORTANT NOTE: The course assumes that students already fulfill mandatory requirements. Students (including students from specialization where IoT is the required course) who DO NOT meet any of these requirements SHOULD first finish the 521286A Computer Systems course, or achieve the equivalent knowledge before enrolling in the IoT course (i.e. Master students in such cases should consider taking the IoT course during their second year of studies after fulfilling the mandatory requirements.). Ideal requirement: In addition to the above-mentioned mandatory requirements, students having prior knowledge of Operating Systems, Database Systems, and Computer Networking (at the Bachelor level) can expect to receive the maximum benefit from the course.

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: 1. explain application areas of IoT and requirements from such application areas for IoT systems. 2. will be able to explain the state-of-the-art IoT solutions, and understand the basic technologies behind them. 3. learn the principles of the novel IoT technologies and know important directions IoT research towards. The focus of the course is to learn how to design and implement an end-to-end IoT software pipeline for the given use-case

Attending lectures and exercise sessions, and returning the weekly exercises online. The course has one major implementation project (i.e. building an end-to-end IoT software pipeline for the given use-case). The exact assessment criteria will be announced during the first teaching session of the course. The course utilises a numerical grading scale 1-5. In the numerical scale zero stands for a fail.

20h lectures, 12h exercise sessions, independent studying 95 hours.
