Elementary Course in Chinese, part 1 (OPEN UNI), Vaasa Summer University

Prerequisites: No preliminary knowledge in Chinese is required

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the students are able to:

• demonstrate the ability to achieve control of the pronunciation system (especially 4 tones)

• demonstrate the ability to use basic grammar and basic sentence patterns

-demonstrate the ability to understand spoken Chinese

-demonstrate the ability to participate in daily conversations

Course sessions 1 x 180 min./week, 15 weeks, 60 hours Consistent preparation for course sessions and independent work, 83 hours. A total of 135 hours of student work.

Regular and active participation in the course sessions, completion of course tasks and successful completion of the exam.

Continuous assessment: course activity and participation and exam. Detailed criteria is given in the course.
