Conversational Skills in Finnish

Required proficiency level of language skills is A2.2; completion of the Intermediate Finnish Course 3 (YK00AI94) or the equivalent language skills.

By the end of the course students - are able to interact fairly fluently and spontaneously with their interlocutor - can describe and explain (clearly and in detail) on a wide range of objects, experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions - can bring out opinions, give reasons and explanations for them and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options - are able to give a prepared presentation and answer the questions posed by the audience.

Assessment methods: Participation in contact teaching, independent work, completion of assigned tasks. Assessment criteria: To pass the course, students must attend class on a regular basis and complete group work tasks and homework assignments. Multimodal teaching. Contact teaching, studying in a group and guided self study. Lessons twice a week (28–30 h), group work (15 h) and guided self study (36 h). The course is also open to students outside the University of Oulu with a separate study right. Please note that this is a face-to-face course and cannot be taken online.
