Prerequisites and co-requisites It is recommended that this course is taken together or after the course Data mining and data-based models and before eventual courses on data management. Molecular biology and Biochemistry courses should be taken before this.

Recommended optional programme components Data mining and data-based models

After completing the course, students :

• learn how to develop code, mostly by thinking how to frame questions in a way algorithms would give them an answer,
• are encouraged to constructive co-operation with people from different backgrounds, developing (field specific) language skills,
• learn concepts of scientific integrity, especially in the context of data manipulation and presentation. Data used in the course are always open access,
• learn to combine biology/biomedical sciences with mathematics and informatics,
• learn to communicate theories, methods and results digitally and effectively, with rigor but also understanding how user perception participates in data communication.
