Basics of Anatomy and Physiology (OPEN UNI)

Recommended optional programme components The course is an independent entity and does not requireadditional studies carried out at the same time.

Upon completing the course, the student understands and can describe:

cells and basic tissues as part of organs. location and functions of organs in the body, numerical values of vital functions. regulation of vital functions and cell communication in the body. in Finnish terms of anatomy and physiology, body structure and function.

Self-pased The course does not include scheduled teaching, but the assignments have designated deadlines that must be met during the course

Leppäluoto ym. Anatomia ja fysiologia. Rakenteesta toimintaan. 
The applicable sections, i.e. the chapters to be read from the book, are indicated. This is also available as an e-book.

Alternatively, you can use other similar textbooks, such as for example

Sand ym. Ihminen - Fysiologia ja anatomia, Nienstedt ym. Ihmisen fysiologia ja anatomia.

Vierimaa & Laurila. Keho -Anatomia ja fysiologia.

Different editions of the books are ok for the course. The textbook is supplemented with course documents and links to additional material. The materials can be found in Moodle on the course page.

Versatile tasks related to the themes of the course in the learning environment in Moodle. Tasks can be done independently or in teams of 2-3 people. The course is implemented as online studies in the Moodle learning environment, where instructions, textbook pages, course material and assignments can be found.

The course utilizes verbal grading scale Pass/Incomplete.

The acceptance limit for non-numerical evaluation is grade level 3/5. Individual assignments must be completed within the stated deadline. All assignments must be approved during the study period.
