Addictions and Health (OPEN UNI)

Prerequisites and co-requisites Before enrolling in the Intermediate Studies courses, at least 20 credits of Basic Health Education studies must be completed.

Recommended optional programme components The course is an independent entity and does not require additional studies carried out at the same time

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

• understand factors related to the connection between substances and health
• can name the most commonly used intoxicants and explain their modes of action and key risks
• know the most common functional dependencies
• understand the factors influencing the emergence of addiction and breaking away from addiction

Self-paced. The course does not include scheduled teaching sessions, but there are deadlines for the assignments to be completed during the course.

The necessary materials and possible book recommendations will be shared on the course platform in Moodle.

The course is completed through independent online study, which includes learning assignments, instructional videos, and participation in group discussions.
