Introduction to information processing sciences (OPEN UNI)

No prerequisite studies.

After passing the course, a student will be able to

• describe the disciplines of Information Processing Science,
• explain the essential Information Processing Science concepts,
• name historically significant and current research topics in Information Processing Science,
• identify the characteristics and requirements of work tasks in the field of Information Processing,
• describe the principles of responsible conduct of research and professional ethics in Information Processing Science
• retrieve, analyse, contest and classify information related to those, as well as
• discuss and report in written form on those using one reference convention of the scientific discipline.

Generic skills related to the course: In the course, the student

• identifies the key skills of analytical, critical and creative thinking and is able to observe them in their own activities
• is able to critically evaluate knowledge in their own field and apply it to solve complex and unforeseen problems
• is able to describe their competence, develop their own professional identity, promote group learning and development and recognise the need for lifelong learning
• is able to identify the dimensions of sustainability (social, ecological, economic, cultural) and is able to assess their own activities in relation to them
• is able to compare the differences and similarities between their own field of science and related sciences
• is able to communicate clearly orally and in writing, both to experts in their own field and to other audiences, also in a foreign language
• is able to develop their communication, interaction and multi-literacy skills
• is able to use digital and artificial intelligence applications relevant to their field of study appropriately, safely and responsibly.
